For the fourth year in a row Soles4Souls partnered with the Metro Nashville Public School System to distribute roughly 10,000 pairs of shoes to local students in need, just in time for the summer months.
The shoes are intended to not only provide students with summer footwear but alleviate the need for families to purchase shoes that their young children will quickly outgrow.
“This distribution is particularly meaningful because we get to help people living in our own backyard,” said Soles4Souls President and CEO, Buddy Teaster. “I think the community would be surprised to learn how many Nashville children are living in poverty and how much of a difference one pair of shoes can make in the lives of their family’s.”
“Our connection with Soles4Souls is profound. Their work has been an inspiration to us,” said Ccilu Footwear CEO Wilson Hsu, noting that the Metro Nashville distribution is the first among several initiatives planned by the brand in partnership with Soles4Souls.
After holding a companywide shoe drive early this year, Warner Music Nashville is adding to their support by sponsoring the event with a $10,000 donation that will continue to help provide shoes to local children in need through the Soles4Summer program.
“The Warner Music family strongly believes in the mantra of ‘think globally, act locally’ when it comes to our charitable givebacks,” said Warner Music Nashville COO Matt Signore. “We are proud to be helping out Soles4Souls by supporting their initiatives both abroad and here in Music City.”
To date, the Soles4Summer initiative has provided over 50,000 students with a new pair of shoes for the summer months.
Since 2006, Soles4Souls has distributed more than 30 million pairs of shoes to individuals in 127 countries around the world and all 50 states in the United States.
