Our brand partners help Soles4Souls Wear Out Poverty every day, but joining us on an international distribution trip to distribute shoes to families in need all around the globe gives it much more meaning. A Soles4Souls trip offers the opportunity to see new places, meet the people we serve and learn what Soles4Souls mission is all about: providing short-term relief and long-term solutions to poverty. This past year, we were lucky enough to have Brighton, Ardene, Adidas and NYDJ – all who donate shoes or apparel to provide relief and help expand our micro-enterprise efforts to create jobs – join us on a trip.
Since 2009, Brighton has held a nationwide shoe drive collecting thousands of shoes each year, totaling over 866,640 pairs. For each 25,000 they collect, Soles4Souls sends two of their employees on an international distribution trip. “They were just so grateful, and we really didn’t do anything, I mean what we did was so small.” share ones of their store managers. Watch their full journey below.
“Today, we went to a church where we gave Ardene shoes to a bunch of teenage girls and it was a tremendous feeling to be able to bring shoes from Canada (where we sell to everyone there) and to actually give to these girls who, some are wearing their mother’s shoes and don’t have a pair of their own.” Says Kelly Solti from Ardene Foundation. Get a look at their experience in Costa Rica by watching the video below.
Adidas got to meet their impact first-hand during their trip to Haiti. Eighty percent of the product we receive from Adidas goes directly into our micro-enterprise program to help create sustainable jobs for those in need. “We met a fearless woman named Ginette, who supports her family of six, put her kids through college, bought her own land and is building her own home – all things that are unheard of for a Haitian woman. because of our work with Soles4Souls, women like Ginette have the ability to make a living off our samples and contribute to the betterment of society in their respective countries.”
After partnering with Clothes4Souls to donate one item of clothing to a woman in need for every pair of jeans tried on or purchased in NYDJ stores, or purchased on NYDJ.com, during March, NYDJ joined us for a trip to Haiti. During their time there, they distributed 300 pieces of clothing to women in need.
We love getting to experience these life-changing moments with our partners, and would love to experience them with you, too! Rally a group together and join us!
