Honduras is located in the isthmus between North and South America. Along with its beautiful coastline, the country boasts the second largest number of coral reefs in the world. Honduras is, however, the second poorest country in Central America and suffers from extreme poverty: 1/3 of the population is unemployed and more than 60% of the country lives below the poverty line. Soles4Souls has been traveling to Honduras since March 2012.

This trip is available for ages 10 years and older. Those under 18 MUST be accompanied by an adult. Price does not include domestic or international airfare.

A sample trip itinerary

Day 1 – Arrive in San Pedro Sula , journey to Hotel Casa Blanca to settle-in, enjoy a team meeting and rest up for a beautiful week of service.

Day 2 – Meet and play with the locals while distributing new shoes.

Day 3 – Enjoy an immersive cultural excursion (example: visit Pulhapanzak Waterfalls & go zip-lining over waterfalls, enjoy the beautiful beaches, visit UNESCO site Copan Ruins or tour local coffee farm). We’ll end the evening with some market shopping.

Day 4 – Visit villages, play with local children and families—witness them do a happy shoe dance!

Day 5 – Visit the World Compass Foundation for an unforgettable morning to learn about S4S micro-enterprise program before departing for the airport.

*This sample itinerary will change between now and the trip depending on our group and in-country partner’s availability.
S4S will provide a final itinerary closer to the trip.

What do we do during the trip?
Each trip is different and unique. Our focus is providing footwear to those in need while spending time merging cultures and building relationships. On our trips, you will have the opportunity to experience and learn about a different culture first-hand.
How much does it cost to go on the trip?

Cost varies upon destination. They typically cost between $1,500 – $2,750. All payments and donations for trips are tax deductable.

Payment Schedule:

  • $250 non-transferable deposit due at the time of registration to secure your spot on the trip (Your deposit fee is included in the overall cost of the trip)
  • 1/3 cost of trip is due 90 days prior to the trip
  • 2/3 cost of trip is due 60 days prior to the trip
  • Total cost of trip is due 30 days prior to the trip

What’s included in the cost of my trip?
Lodging, meals, ground transportation, security, guides, excursion fees, travelers insurance, entry and exit fees, welcome package and materials, and a portion will go to offset the cost of shipping shoes.
How do we ensure safety on our trips?
For each trip, Soles4Souls partners with local leaders and organizations to plan and execute every detail of your trip. A travel coordinator will lead each trip along with a local guide from each country. Accommodations differ for each country and these are stated on the specific destination page. Accommodations are one of the following: hotel, guest home, community center and medical clinic. All food and water provided is safe to eat and drink.
What documents do I need?
A passport is required. Prior to your trip, you will receive a detailed information packet including an itinerary, history and cultural facts, recommended immunizations, packing list and helpful tips to assist you in preparing.
