Thanks to your support, we recently distributed over 800 pairs of new shoes in Costa Rica.
Our team’s itinerary was filled with several emotional distributions, but one unplanned visit was particularly moving.
La Milpa is a squatter community outside of the capital city. It’s such a rough area that the police escorted our team through the neighborhood—small tin and wood shelters, exposed electrical wires and raw sewage dripping freely.
Just two weeks before our team’s arrival, a blazing fire left 24 families homeless.
And with no shoes to protect them from the debris.
Thanks to your generosity, we answered their call for help on a grassy patch behind the community church. Evelyn and her three sons, eight-year-old Andrew and four-year old twins Angel and Harim, were among the families who gathered. The boys should have been in school, but as in many of the countries you help us reach, they’re not allowed to attend without shoes.
So getting a new pair of school-approved shoes means they can once again pursue their education.
That day, Evelyn and her three sons walked away with new shoes and hope for the future.
That is what the gift of shoes is about. And we need your help to make it happen. For every dollar that you give, we can provide one more child a new pair of shoes. Your gift of $15 means 15 new pairs. A donation of $25 helps distribute 25 pairs. $50=50 new pairs for children in need.
You can change the future of a child like Andrew, Angel and Harim today with your most generous donation!
