4EveryKid Twin Cities

Helps Kids in Need

Give kids in need a brighter future by providing a new pair of shoes to children experiencing homelessness across the Twin Cities.

4EveryKid Twin Cities

Our belief is that every child deserves to belong. That’s why we are on a mission to provide a new pair of shoes for every local child in need.

While many organizations are focused on the critical needs of food and shelter, school officials tell us shoes are essential for students to succeed.

Help Us Meet Our Goal

We want to provide shoes to the 10,000 local kids experiencing homelessness.

Our Next Step

In just one year, Heart and Soles4Souls has grown from serving 500 children to providing 2,250 kids in the Twin Cities with something so simple yet so powerful: a brand-new pair of athletic shoes.

That means 2,250 children who now feel a little more confident. A little more seen. A little more like they belong.

And on May 1, you took the next step with us.

Whether you joined us in person or cheered us on from afar, we’re so grateful.

At Our Next Step, you helped raise $18,000 in one night—enough to provide 900 more kids with brand-new shoes.

Your generosity fuels this mission. And we're just getting started!

Join the Movement!

Last year, Heart and Soles4Souls provided new shoes to hundreds of children experiencing homelessness in the Twin Cities. Building on that momentum, we’re stepping forward in year two with the goal of reaching even more children in need. In collaboration with Soles4Souls, a global non-profit, we’re committed to ensuring every child facing homelessness in our community has a new pair of shoes—a small but powerful step toward stability and opportunity.

Homelessness in Minnesota rose 10% from 2023 to 2024, according to the 2024 Annual Homelessness Assessment Report. Among the most significant increases was the rise in families experiencing homelessness.

This event is more than a fundraiser—it’s a movement. Studies show that new shoes improve school attendance, boost confidence, and help children take their first steps toward a brighter future.

Your support is an investment in their future. Let’s step into the night with compassion, unity, and a shared purpose to create lasting change for the young hearts and soles of our community.

Stepping Up for Kids at Karner Blue

On February 25, we hosted our first-ever shoe-giving event in the Twin Cities at Karner Blue Education Center! Thanks to our dedicated volunteers, generous donors, and the incredible Soles4Souls team, 200 kids walked away with brand-new shoes—and big smiles.

Every donation made at last year’s Heart & Soles4Souls event played a crucial role in making this inaugural Shoe Gifting Event a reality. The kids who received shoes were among the 2,000 students who your donations impacted last year. We are deeply grateful for your commitment to helping children in need.

Your Support is Making a Positive Impact

Minneapolis Public Schools shared with us just one example of how our support is making a positive impact on a local family:

“I just came here from Ecuador, with little to no resources. My family took everything we could grab that was important for us to have. I enrolled my children with Minneapolis Public Schools and spoke with the school social worker regarding our current homeless status. I shared that we didn’t come with much and that since we just arrived a week ago, I have not been able to find employment. The school social worker was very helpful with sharing resources for my family. She shared that the department not only had clothing and personal hygiene for my children, but they also had shoes. My heart was filled with happiness because my children were in need and this program helped my family. My children were able to get 2 pairs of shoes each, they were so happy with this choice of shoes. Seeing them smile brought tears to my eyes and this gave me hope that better days are ahead of us.”

Shoe Closet Supporters

A shoe closet is a symbolic way to represent 25 pairs of new, brand-name shoes that your gift provides to students in local school districts. Instead of a physical closet in a school, it reflects the impact your donation makes by ensuring local kids have the shoes they need to learn, play, and belong.

Special thanks to those who have stocked a shoe closet in a local school district:

FAQ

You have questions, and we have answers

Here are the answers to our most frequently asked ones

Can I choose which school my Shoe Closet supports?

To ensure equity across the Twin Cities, donors are not able to select individual schools to receive their Shoe Closet. Our team works directly with McKinney-Vento liaisons, who identify students experiencing homelessness and schools within each district. While you can’t designate a specific school, your gift stays entirely local, supporting students across Twin Cities districts identified through our 4EveryKid partnerships and data. Our goal is simple: to ensure every child experiencing homelessness receives a new pair of shoes.

Can I visit or volunteer at the Shoe Closet I funded?

Because Shoe Closets are symbolic and not physical rooms within schools, there isn’t a closet to visit or volunteer in. However, we’d love to connect you with meaningful opportunities to get involved with 4EveryKid Twin Cities, including shoe distributions and community events. For volunteer opportunities, please reach out to [email protected].

Does my entire donation stay local?

Yes. 100% of your Shoe Closet donation stays in the Twin Cities, providing new shoes to students in local districts through the 4EveryKid program.

What exactly does my $500 (or $42/month) fund?

Your generous gift provides 25 students experiencing homelessness in our community with a brand-new, brand-name pair of athletic shoes. This support ensures local kids have what they need to learn, play, and show up with confidence
