Society of Threads Donates 300 Masks to Nashville Rescue Mission
This year, our team at Soles4Souls has continued to be amazed by the way our partner brands have stepped up to provide for people in need. In August, Society of Threads partnered with Soles4Souls by donating 20,000 masks to distribute. Since then, multiple organizations supporting families experiencing homelessness have been the recipients of their generous donation. Last month, the team at Society of Threads, a division of AW Chang Corporation, stepped up again– providing 300 masks to the Nashville Rescue Mission’s women’s shelter.
“When I was approached by Soles4Souls’ Director of Outreach, Tiffany Turner, about possibly making an additional donation last month, we could not say no. We learned from Tiffany that the Nashville Rescue Mission-Women’s Campus desperately needed masks quickly. We were on it and sent 300 masks for the mission! It gives our brand a greater sense of purpose to know that an entire group of women can now feel better equipped to protect themselves during this pandemic,” said Efia Bethel, Community & Brand Partnership Coordinator for AW Chang Corporation.
When the masks were delivered to the Mission, many women were ecstatic that they not only had multiple patterns to choose from but “We can breathe in them,” said one as they were trying them on.
Due to Covid-19, the Mission has been faced with a couple of outbreaks this year, causing city officials to open an additional shelter at the Nashville Fairgrounds to provide space for individuals experiencing homelessness. The Nashville Rescue Mission is a nonprofit organization that serves 800 men, women and children through their rehabilitation programs, as well as thousands through daily meals. The impacts of the pandemic have made it difficult to allow volunteers and keep everyone safe. However, “having the masks from Society of Threads is critical and so helpful,” said one of the volunteers upon accepting the mask delivery.
AW Chang Corporation has stepped up in various ways this year through its other brands as well, donating $25,000 to Best Friends Animal Society, providing masks to a number of schools and other organizations, and even contributing to ocean and coral reef preservation efforts.
“At Society of Threads, we believe it is our corporate responsibility to give back by using our expertise in manufacturing for a greater good. This year, we’ve been able to adapt quickly to the new retail demand for face coverings, and largely produce some of the most breathable non-medical masks on the market. While we were excited to get our new products on the market, we knew there were many in need that would have a hard time acquiring masks for their protection. This is why Society of Threads partnered with Macy’s and Soles4Souls,” said Bethel.
