Good for the Soul: Walker Danesh’s journey of beginning a 10K shoe drive
When you feel that inner calling to make a difference in the world, what’s your next move? For Walker Danesh, his answer was clear – start a shoe drive. After researching what organization best fit his mission, Walker teamed up with Soles4Souls to begin his journey of creating his very own shoe drive.
Walker began his first shoe drive on January 12, 2024 with a goal of collecting 10,000 pairs.
With an interest in sneakers and entrepreneurship, Walker combined his two passions and found a way to use them to help others. With support from his family and community, Walker knew together, they could collect a significant number of shoes.
“The most rewarding part is seeing all the shoes that I collected and knowing how many people I am going to help”, Walker recalled.
Through personal outreach and collaboration with his elementary school, Walker has already gathered 673 pairs of shoes (this alone can already provide a family in Haiti or Honduras consistent, quality food, housing and education for a family for 8 months!) Walker plans to grow his shoe drive by continuously outreaching to local organizations and schools to create lasting partnerships.
The shoes collected by Walker’s shoe drive will go towards Soles4Souls’ 4Opportunity program, where they will provide economic and educational opportunities to entrepreneurs in low income countries. Soles4Souls is thankful for Walker, his efforts, and for helping change the world one shoe at a time. We can’t wait to see all that Walker accomplishes!
